Maersk Oil Recruitment Day 2012

(by Julio)

October 31st 2012 was a milestone in the history of the Student Geoscientific Society. After getting in touch with Maersk Oil during the 2nd International Geoscience Student Conference (IGSC) Cracow in Juli 2011 and maintaining the contact we finally were able to welcome Maersk Oil with widely open arms at the Geocampus Lankwitz at the Freie Universität Berlin in co-work of SGS members Julio Galindo Guerreros and Sascha Kuske. The Maersk Oil Recruitment day program included six selected interviews out of 27 applications, two technical presentations held by Uli Micksch and Michael Hertle and finally the presentation of the Maersk International Technology and Science (MITAS) program - "a 2-year international entry level programme designed to prepare newly graduated engineers and geosciences graduates for technical and specialist careers" - by global recruiter Lee Milligan.

35 Bsc, MSc and PhD students attended the event with great interest, being spoiled with delicious finger food prepared by SGS member Pia Steckenreuter. Moreover we want to thank Ramona and Florian for their great assistance to realize the event.

After three hours of presentation the main event finished. All Maersk Oil representatives and the organizers went out for a closing dinner where they used the time to reflect on the successful day.

We are confident that this event was the first step for a long future cooperation between Maersk Oil, SGS and Freie Universität Berlin.

Again we want to express our gratitude to Lee, Uli and Michael for the great day.
